People just never seem to get tired of this song . Including me.

Another true rock band that deserves to be in the RRHOF! Randy Bachman had BTO as well as The Guess Who and neither has ever been inducted. It’s a disgrace that his accomplishments in rock and roll have been ignored.

B.T.O. has a lot of fun songs. "Hey You", "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet", "Roll On Down The

An iconic song from an iconic group of the 70's generation. It can get you pumped for a hard day's work no matter what your job is. Love BTO.

First rock n roll song my oldest son ever liked. He was only about 3 yrs old and would go around the house singing it all the time. Now, at 52, he sings all kinds of rock classics with his band.

Vale Robbie Bachman
Robbie passed away a few days ago. aged 69
Robbie was BTO's Drummer during their 'heyday' in the 70's.
He played on all their Hit songs and albums.
BTO were a great Band and Robbie was a great Drummer.
RIP mate.

One of my favorite bands. Basically the song is about not doing the whole 9-5 grind for work. Being in a band and basically working for yourself. Taking care of business. You really hear it in the line It’s the work that we avoid cause we’re all self employed. We love to work at nothing all day. Living the rock star’s dream.

The Bachman brothers lived in New West BC in the early 80's and I ran into Randy a few times. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to music and especially guitar riffs. Amazing musician

This song won me over the first time I heard "Look at me I'm self employed, I love to work at nothing all day".

Love the music of Canadian bands in the seventies Rush, Trooper, BTO, The Guess Who, April Wine, Triumph and so many others that I listened to religiously all through my high school years. 😊

Ironic that this comes out of the same livestream as "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", since this is Randy Bachman's band *after* he left The Guess Who. (Who kept on well enough without him for several albums.)

Randy doesn't have Burton Cummings's supple voice, but he's powerful enough, and his guitar work is still excellent. You could even alternate songs from the two groups, as you've accidentally done here.

This song was used as the theme of Office Depot for years.

I was in HS in the 70's and one of our teachers was late getting to class he said he was taking care of business and of course the entire class started singing the opening guitar riff, the teacher had a stunned look on his face.

I'm glad you guys covered this! My wife and I flew from Houston to Toronto, Ontario Canada in July 2022 to see him and Burton Cummings (they were in The Guess Who together. This was the first song I danced to with a girl back in 1974 when I joined the Air Force!

Randy Bachman initially began writing this song in response to a comment by his father that he does nothing all day. Basically his father saw work as a 9-5 proposition. Randy completed song while working with BTO..

Welcome back to Canada, folks.
This song is so popular and pervasive in society that a Hollywood movie was made, using the song and its title, starring Jim Belushi.

I played this song on my Walkman while we were crossing the minefields into Kuwait during Desert Storm. To this day I can still see my driver rocking out to this. What was the worse that could have happened, it'd all be over in a flash!!! GREAT TUNE!!

Burton Cummings singing was the “soul” of the Guess Who, but Randy Bachman’s guitar playing was the “heart.” Burton even said the Guess Who weren’t as good after Randy left. Randy & Burton fought over the music all the time, so he quit & formed BTO & played the music he wanted to play. & we were all the better for it. 🎵🎶🎸😎👍

I heard in an interview with Randy Bachman, that the pizza delivery guy played the piano in this song. It was the finishing touch, but they never got his name, or were ever able to track him down later to give him credit for his contribution to the song.
