In this video, we meet the founder of preloved, which is a Toronto-based eco-fashion brand that creates new clothing using second-hand vintage wool sweaters, rolls of deadstock fabric, and other sustainably sourced materials.

Preloved was founded by Julia Grieve in 1995 and has been upcycling and reusing an average of 100,000 sweaters each year!! These secondhand sweaters are usually destined for the landfill, but preloved buys them from rag house clothing sorters and deconstructs them into fabric that they can use to design new sweaters.

In addition to sourcing sustainable materials for all of their clothes, the brand has also made a conscious decision to manufacture their clothing in Canada instead of outsourcing the work overseas.

Check out the incredible clothing made by preloved here:

I am seventy years old and began going to Goodwill with my mother as a small child to buy new-to-me clothes to play in, go to church and school. Often my mom would take parts from one piece of clothing to make a skirt or dress to fit me because I have always been tall. So I think it is great the world is making something new for something old! My grandparents were both born in 1900, and their parents were neighbors. My grandmother 's parents had 17 children, and recycling was the only way to dress their large family. Recycling is not new, but is something we should all practice! 😊❤

I buy a lot of my clothing at the thrift store or discounted on catalogs, and everything needs to be natural fiber, as I'm allergic to man made fabrics. We wear things till they're worn out.

So we’re going back to fashion what it was 100 years ago. Our ancestors were right.

I just want clothes that last more than a year before breaking apart to the point where I cant even fix them myself anymore, especially pants. Womens pants are just such bad quality unless you spend a fortune on them and even then getting something of good quality that actually fits is even more of a challenge

I love the upcycling, but their patchwork style is just hideous. 😂

I like the concept, but it won't keep up with the new clothes if the cost isn't kept down. I would buy totally different, if I had the money to do so. Because I don't have a lot of money, I can't buy organic. I can't buy bamboo. I can't replace my plastic containers with glass. Can't buy an electric vehicle. Our planet is being killed, and many of the things that are available to help save it, are out of reach for anyone that isn't rich. Oh. And we're way over populated.

God is real how could something so complex like the universe and humans be made from bacteria or rocks or evolution we just couldn’t God made it all and how could the things that people say made the universe get here if there was nothing God made it
