Well, I guess that’s a massive goodbye to Best Buy for me. The only reason I ever kept going WAS for movies because they always more variety than Walmart or Target.

My experience with Best Buy the last few years has been that they seem to want to do everything in their power to make you not want to give them money.

Thanks for the update, Jeff! My local library rents out 4K discs for $1/week! So far they have bought every movie I've requested of them. Everyone, ask your local library too!

With my surround sound, there is noooo comparison between the physical media and streaming. I will always buy/watch physical media when I can as it sounds so much better! Thank you for this great video!!!

My local Beat Buy’s had stopped carrying CD’s and movie’s about 5 years ago. Now it appears to be nationwide. Best Buy used to be a physical media monster…..they will be gone in 5 years, I predict.

I wish they could release a physical version of a movie first before releasing the digital version. Like the old days. I wonder how that would affect the business model. Maybe it would help boost sales before putting it on a streaming service. They’re not making money on streaming anyway. Might as well try the old model again.

We really need Sony or LG, somebody to release a $100 4k HDR player. That's always been the price to get the masses on board

Meanwhile in Canada… Walmart is dropping physical media in many stores, bestbuy is getting out of it, we have no target or BN.

Where I live I have poor Wi Fi coverage and the only way I can watch a movie is on physical media, I'm so glad you champion it.

I keep telling my friends and family, I work for a major cable company here in Texas. I tell them, then yes you stream your movies but when the cable goes out or they pull a movie from their platform, what then???

Sadly our Walmarts in Canada has changed this week. They’re reducing the footprint by 75%. Sad times really.

Physical media came in clutch yesterday when my internet service was out for almost 24 hours which basically turned my smart tv into a dumb tv and my cable box into a brick. Cell reception was also rarely at 2 bars even though I pay for premium 5G+ service. It’s safe to say for rural areas physical media is still an option that shouldn’t go away anytime soon. Thanks for keeping us informed Jeff.

Been collecting for years now, have over 1700 Blu-ray/4K movies, will continue to purchase remasters and new releases as long as they fit my need

Best Buy getting out of the physical media game is really unfortunate. They always had good prices and I would much rather go to Best Buy than go to Walmart. Now that they are dropping Blu-Rays, I have no reason to go to Best Buy anymore. Aside from a few very rare exceptions, movie purchases are the only reason that I've gone to Best Buy for the last 10 years.

After purchasing a brand new Sony 4K Blu-ray player, I decided to purchase 4K discs at Best Buy and Target. I was shocked how small the DVD/Blu-ray section was, almost to non-existent. Now, I have to purchase online…very sad to discover this. I really hope physical media will have a comeback, because watching 4K discs is so much more richer and satisfying to view than streaming.

My biggest problem with Walmart is that my Walmart has very little blu-ray and 4k titles, instead opting for a wide variety of DVD's. The only option I have for instant gratification is to drive one hour into the nearest large city to purchase there. It's very frustrating.
