This is a story One of the rarest Japanese classics, which is still being overlooked So lets dive into this Mitsubishi Starion   just by looks, its beautiful lines with boxy character make it unique 80s looking car. Especially with those pop-up headlights.

The top version could get you 188 horsepower with 2.6 liter turbocharged engine and was able to hit 100 in seven seconds. It was even able to tune up close to 400 horsepower. Starion and was one of the first Japanese sports car to feature fuel injection and turbocharger by a factory, you could even choose if you want standart or widebody solution.

Damn. A guy at the meet up pulled up in one of these last week. Widebody, turbo. It was real clean.

This is still one of my favorite cars. They were basically unknown, even when they were new.

Automatic seatbelts, stereo controls on the steering wheel, 150 on speedometer, very loud stock stereo, turbocharged twin cooled, staggered front and back aluminum wheels . Way ahead of its time. On the downside weak clutch, weak rear end and electrical problems plagued my 87 . l loved that car and wish l still had it!!😢

Since 1986 I have been crazy about these cars! I've had several over the years. So much fun to drive! The body lines are just pure art!

Coolest looking 80s sports car. Perfect mix of muscle and import.

Gorgeous!! I bought my 1988 Chrysler Conquest TSI Sport Handling Package in ‘92 & I still have it. It was also Red, but I color changed it to the color changing Black Pearl about 15 yrs ago. Car is in mint condition…unmolested motor, NO rust on body…100% stock👍

FYI: for those that don’t know, the Chrysler Conquest TSI was the same car as the Mitsubishi Starion, it was just imported under Chrysler’s name to the United States back then…both cars existed at the same time.👍

The top American version had 196hp. It was also released under the dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler brand, it was called the conquest.

My friend in high school, who happened to be spoiled. Was gifted one of these in the Chrysler variation. It was the Chrysler Conquest. He got it for his 16th birthday. I believe it was only a couple of years old at the time. That thing was a terror on the streets. I had other friends with big muscle cars. Challengers, Nova's, trans Am etc. the conquest got a lot of attention. It was so unique, and lacked nothing.

For what I know, the starion was Mitsubishi's answer to the rally series rising in popularity known as "Group B". but before it was fully completed, Group b got removed but the starion's development wasn't in vain. The awd system was used in two cars that went on to become legendary, The Lancer Evo and the Galant VR4

A lady that worked at a gas station I frequented had one like in the video, but it was a blueish gray metallic. Beautiful car. Made my mouth water every time I saw it. Wish I had one.

My dad had one of those back in the 80's it was red just like that one, the turbo version. It was a stick shift. It was a cool car.
