That part where Peter confronts flash in the beginning talking about the war and flash says he's going to war because he's his biggest fan and its something spider-man would do. Fuckin' tears bro

"People don't want to see stories where their favorite characters age. They're the audience surrogate, and should always be young and in the prime of their lives."

comic companies and writers should start doing this for every hero, its a great way for new readers to get involved.

Seeing Peter age but still be Spiderman and make upgraded suits reminds me of Bruce Wayne in Batman beyond. Showing both heroes said screw the aging thing and were still heroes in their aged years. Only difference Peter actually stopped to be a family man.

Am I the only one who loves it when the Venom Symbiote shows Peter that it still cares about him as a host and Peter acts nice towards it? It’s like in ASM 800 when it makes a concerning sound when Peter tells it to get away from the fire when he and Norman have their last fight. The moment when it showed up here was kinda wholesome.

This was one of the best Spider-man stories. Almost all the big story arcs across decades of comics rolled into one concise timeline. No time travel, no retcons, no multiverse adventures, no revivals from deaths. Just about every aspect of the character was incorporated in a natural way, that also does the character's justice.

I'd love to see more of this universe, all the different things that would have happened between the time jumps, the history, the moral dilemmas, and how the characters interact with each other and with this world.

Those final panels when we look at Peter's dream of the night Uncle Ben died was beautiful. He finally made his peace, he can say to himself that he made up for his original sin, and he died with pride.

Quite Possibly the best Modern Spider-Man story...

What I love about the story is that it actually makes symbiote suit a conflict. It gives power, power an older peter needs that more to keep his momentum, aging bring about a lot of problems and questions that the superhero genre could profit from

We need an animated movie, or a mini series adaptation of this story

This is why finality in stories is a good thing. Characters having meaning, depth, and growth. Consequences stick. Everyone is at risk. No one is safe. Just safer.

And pure genius from Benji realizing that Morlun was vulnerable when feeding.

As much as I always want to see Peter Parker be the one and only Spider-Man, I have also wondered what life would be like for him if he aged accordingly with the times and what the world would also look like if heroes did partake in historic events such as the Vietnam War.

Overall, this series is a 10/10.

I didn't think I would. But I actually cried. I felt Peter's heart in the end. He truly is the best Super hero In all of comics

Honestly, Aunt May is an Immortal, how you look 105 in the 60s and still be alive in the 80s or 90s

I can't be the only one that notices Norman Osborne always has waves

for those unclear on how old some of the characters are exactly, i’ll clarify

Peter and his friends were born in 1947 (hehe, boomers lol)

The twins were born in 1984

and if they’re keeping the trend of aging in real time for Miles, then Miles Morales would’ve been born in 1997-1998

it’s a bit unclear for Miles since in his original run from 2011 it’s made clear he’s 13 meaning he’d be born in 1998 but in a later issue in the same run he says he’s almost 14 meaning he’d be born in 1997. It’s not clear if he’d be turning 14 that same calendar year or the next so that’s why i estimated for him

a calculator can help you figure out their ages but to save some time these are their ages by 2019:

Peter and his generation (Baby Boomers)- 72

Claire and Benji (millennials/Gen Y)- 35

Miles (Gen Z)- 21-22 (this is actually the second oldest we’ve ever seen Miles apart from his old man storyline)

update: in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #30 we see a 28yr old version of Miles which seems to be in the same timeline as the main comic universe, he has a new suit design and everything

I love this. Finally seeing the heroic end of a hero. Not just seeing the same hero living forever like an immortal

This is one of my favorite Spidey stories. It feels like a love letter to Peter's legacy, reminding us again why we're fans of the amazing wall-crawler. It reminded us of the love he had with that spectacular redhead. It captured the very essence of Spider-Man. Zdarsky, you genius.

I would love Marvel (and DC) to do more Life Story stuff like this for a lot more characters. Feel like there could be a lot of cool stories from it.
