Yes the graphics card need to be replaced assuming you have integrated graphics, and more ram may be needed, 8GB is good. And a Nvidia Geforce GTX 640 or above is acceptable.

I would recommend ibuypower if you do not want to build it yourself, you should get an Intel Core I5 or I7
a Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 or above
8GB of ram
600 to 800w power supply
1TB hard drive or SSD, or combo.
Finally if you do not want to get a custom computer, buy an Alienware aurora desktop, or an Alienware Laptop.

No CryEngine 3 does not support Mac OSX, I like macs, but I would recommend getting a windows computer if you do not have one already.

Some foliage bushes need some proper shading. Like in 0:14.

This is huge forest. But it's kinda empty: trees, trees, trees, some river. Maybe some small village you can make there, to add some character. Even when you're doing only foliage study.

I'm learning environments too. Can you show in some link your textures of conifer trees? They look pretty realistic.

And do you generate normals for bark? nDo 2 or sculpt by hand in ZBrush or Mudbox?

u wrote "open world" in the title, but its not possible acctually with the crytek engine or how did u managed the levelstreaming?
i still got so much probs with it

Windows 8 will not help with the frame-rate, you can get a gaming computer on ibuypower for 700 or less maybe even 550 or 600 that performs very well. If you do decide to do this I can help you choose the best computer for the price.

On the topic of PC specs, whats your recommendation for ghz and cores. I've got amd 3.3ghz 6 core right now.

With this kind of configuration you could have ran the same map in cry engine 2 with more than 60 fps.
