Do Pets apply Life Steal? - It's complicated!

Azir and Life Steal might be the biggest anti synergy in this game :D

this is actually one of the reasons i used to build ravenous hydra on malz. i noticed his pets applied the cleave effect and the omnivamp was useful for lane clearing. plus, voidlings scale off of AD anyway

Shaco's R applies lifesteal but not for Shaco, for itself. And that's probably intended. There is no way that what you showcased is intended.

Active ability pets with timed life seem to be the lifesteal applicable group.
Azir's soldiers were consciously made to REPLACE his autoattacks to stop any on-hit shenanigans from the get-go, and heimer turrets are considered their own entities with own stats that are not directly tied to heimer himself (you may verify this with the sheer fact that upon leveling up his Q, turrets do not get stronger, instead they have to be replaced to gain the new stats).
Maiden is in THEORY a timed life pet... it's just her duration is very, very, very long.

That's so odd, because you'd think that it is decided based on the damage type, like iverns daisy does physical dmg on attack and heals but so many deal magic dmg on attack but heal the champ as though it were physical damage. It definitely does not appear to follow any pattern

I could see that malzahar building lifesteal being meta in near future.

It seems to me that there are abilities that hit with magical damage but heal from the physical. Azir soldiers do not heal from physical healing, but Annie the bear heals (sorry if I wrote something wrong, I wrote this from a translator)

The only pattern I could figure out was this:
Big pets apply lifesteal on auto attacks only (eg Ivern kmockup does not apply it)
Small pets don't apply life steal unless the pet scales with ad and is not Yorick's ghoul.

Idea for someone more motived than myself, make a survey asking people which pets they “think” apply life steal and which dont, see what the percent accuracy of player intuition and reality is in game.

It seems that pets from ultimates do apply lifesteal and the rest not except for Malzahar's voidlings. Why Malzahar? I have no clue.

Azir's soldiers, Heimer turrets apply burn from Liandry, maybev that's the case? (Idk about spiderlinks)
How about Zyra's plants (are they even pets?)

In league there are two "Pets", actual Pets and Minions.
Pets are Tibbers, Daisy, Yorick's Maiden, LeBlanc Passive, Shaco Clone, and old Mordekaiser R.
Everything else, such as Yorick Ghoul, Elise spiders, and Heimer Turret, is a Minion.

I Haven't tested it myself, but i believe all Pets can lifesteal towards their Owner.
Minions on the other hands are more independant.
The only thing i can't get around is Malzahar voidlings, i know for sure it at least used to be a normal Minion, so either during his mini-rework they changed it to a Pet, or made a special case for it. I want to think the first option is more plausible, since what would be the point of manually making lifesteal work on him? The first option would imply it is just a side-effect.

It's quite simple until you see Malz. Every minions you summon doesn't apply life steal unless you can control it
You can control tibbers, daysi, yorick's R but you can't do it with Elise Spider
For azir his soldier doesn't life so I guess for the game it's not really a summoning
But for Malz's W ... I think it's because the spell does apply on hit effect. Otherwise I don't see any reason for it
