Squid Game: Thanos actor is real-life rapper & went to jail

In Squid Game season 2, Thanos is played by none other than T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun), who is a former member and rapper of the iconic K-pop boy band BIGBANG. In 2017 he was handed a 10-month suspended prison sentence with two years probation for smoking marijuana several times. Due to the public backlash he received over his marijuana scandal, he announced his retirement from the entertainment industry but later reversed course by appearing in Season 2 of Squid Game. His casting came as a shock to many Koreans and incited a lot of controversy in South Korea.

Okay so to the non Koreans that don’t understand why he would get in trouble over some weed.
In East Asia drugs of any form is not tolerated at all. Tattoos are still taboo and doing anything that isn’t “normal” in society standards will give you looks. So to the westerners it m it ht not make sense but weed is considered a horrible drug. That is why the media covered on TOPs weed scandal
