How To Test A Vehicle Car Relay The Easy Way when the vehicle will not crank or turn over
You don't need alligator clips, battery packs and fancy equipment, just swap out the relay in question with one that is known to work.

Old swaptronics of course if you don’t have proper test equipment. But sucks if the other relay is also bad.

What a perfect tip! Use the same slot of the relay that works for something obvious, swap it out with another relay of the same value in its place, then recheck that function! Dang that's good! U rock! Best tip I've came across for this. Serious kudos!!!👍👍👍 {...to piggy back off your idea...I might

get some electric contact cleaner to spray in the slots and on the relay terminals while I'm at it, consider buying just one brand new relay to insert in the slot of the relay that 'm pulling out to check, just since this test is easier with the battery staying connected).

Your advice is very good, if and only if you have identical characteristics relays to swap. Otherwise, it is nonsense.
But thanks anyway.

I'm trying so hard to keep up I've been looking at these videos all morning. I'm trying to test if it's a relay switch that's causing my air conditioner not to work before I take it to a mechanic. I've located the relay so am I supposed to swap it out with like the horn and then try the horn and if the horn still works it's not the fuse is that the deal

I use my 12 v car battery. I had some spare cables and tap it with electrical tape. Made some clicks, gotta find my voltmeter. Cooling fans are not turning engine feels hot on idle even the gauge shows normal temperature, if I go drive around and come back the fans kick in but at high speed. Seems at low speed mode won't turn on.

I've changed thermostat, radiator, water pump and coolant temperature sensor.🤷‍♂️. I disconnected the coolant temperature sensor fans turn on at high speed. Then on the fuse box I did override/jumper wire fans turn on, low speed and hi speed.

I had some spare relays and swap them. Same issue.

The only thing i can think off is ECM 🤷‍♂️. Any suggestions what else can it be?

Is an 2006 impala LT V6 3.5L VIN: K model.

Steve, that was an amazing evaluation. Thanks

There is basically 2 circuits on that type of relays.

The power supply to the starter and the other side is the signal to activate the relay.

No key signal will not trigger relay and power supply won't travel to starter.

Easier to just put a paper clip to the power supply and just tap the connection.

IF YOU SWAP IT OUT RIGHT, WOULDNT U BE CREATING A OLD PROBLEM? LIKE U USING THE SAME RELAY BUT THE ONE YOU ARE TAKING FROM WILL NOW NEED A RELAY BECAUSE ONLY ONE IS WORKING JUST MY THOUGHTS

So what if a bad ground blew the original relay and you blow another $40 relay by swapping them? Lol
