Hpa-an is lesser known places to visit in Myanmar but has so much to offer to its visitors. The caves in Hpa-an are magnificent and densely filled with unique stalactite and stalagmite structures. One can never get bored of exploring the many caves in this place!
One of the most beautiful ornaments of the place is its lush green rice fields with limestone mountains in the backdrops. One can hire a two wheeler and explore the endless rice fields around the town.
Sunset can be captured from many spots in Hpa-an, be it at the magical Kyauk ka lat pagoda(cliff pagoda) or by Thanlyin river or sitting by the rice fields...it is all equally mesmerizing. So make sure to spent enough number of days here!
Highlight of this place is the Taung wine mountain hike, Asia's stairway to heaven and the bat cave. Bat cave should be visited right after the sunset and you get to see 1000s of bats coming out of a cave and flying off towards the horizon in search of food forming beautiful patterns.
All in all this town is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
