Even though our areas (Grey, Bruce and Huron Counties-Tsaugeen Territory) bedrock is sedimentary, we have a lot of different types of igneous rocks that have been brought by glaciers!

Thank you for sharing Jenna. My husband and I rock hunt on the shores of Lake Huron south of Kincardine. I have watched all your videos. Very informative!

In southern Ontario where we have calcareous sands, they are derived from glaciers grinding up limestone plains such as those on the Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulin Island (e.g. Pinery on the south shore of Lake Huron, transported by longshore currents), Norfolk sand plain (Carden limestone plain). So a slight quibble about sand coming from granite, which it does north of southern Ontario. You are amazing, and totally know your stuff, I found this super interesting! Stumbled onto you through Kathleen Chayer. Botanist/ecologist by trade, have rudimentary knowledge of geology, diabase is easily my favourite bedrock. Have you heard about Thunder Eggs? I have collected a few, including what I refer to as a '4-baller'.
