As a paramedic, I write reports quite often. None of them are written in the first-person perspective. All of my reports are written in the third person. This practice is common in report writing today.
The practice of writing in third person is common in autobiographies as well.

I just want to add, that even if what the other person said was true (which it isn't), it still wouldn't mean all that much. The NT was still written in the time of the eyewitnesses. So they would still have ensured that what was written was true.

The eyewitnesses gladly went to their excruciating deaths for what they experienced and witnessed. We know this even from extra-biblical writings.

So, although not true, it wouldn't change anything if true.

If Luke got his information from eyewitnesses that means he’s not an eyewitness. Neither is Mark, who traditionally is thought to be a later disciple of Peter. And since Matthew basically wrote big chunks of word for word plagiarism from the later, non eyewitness source, Mark, we can seriously question his credibility as an eyewitness. And finally we have John, written many decades after the death of Jesus, John would have been in his 90’s.
All of the gospels include events in the life of Jesus (pre-womb to post-tomb) that they could NOT have personally witnessed themselves. Therefore NOT eyewitnesses accounts.
