The D s er is to Remove the harshe sss sounds 😊 You kind of pin point Them with the settings and then lower Them a bit 😊 Compressor on vokals are two types of settings 😊 One with fast attack and fast release just to take the tops of 😊 and then there is the one with a litle slower atack But stil ok fast release and auto realeas is also good This is for taming the hole body of the vocal and make it musical 😊 Attack that is fast takes the peaks Down and makes the Sound less dynamic Slow attack lets the peak Come through An example is a kick drum The kick needs to get through in order for the kick to kick So that could be an attack time around 30 ms Release is good at 50 ms as standart It has something to do with the time of the lowest freqenzies But dont worry you Will learn 😊

I went frame by frame on that vocal chain video rebuilding it from scratch and it’s been my go-to on everything including airy sounds that aren’t vocals

You could eliminate the first lo cut filter and keep the second one after the compressor. If you have effects adding low frequency further in the chain just put the low cut after them and only use one to save processing and to keep the signal from degrading. This will also cut down on latency (signal delay) if you are doing live vocals.
