WTO and IMF reports suggest slow trade growth in 2023 due to geopoliltical tensions

WTO "올해 무역성장률 1.7% 전망 작년보다 둔화"

The World Trade Organization on Thursday raised its trade growth forecast for 2023 to 1-point-7 percent, a rise of point-7 percentage points from October last year.
The agency attributed this to the easing of China's COVID-19 restrictions which is expected to boost consumer demand and trade.
However, this is still a low estimate compared to the 2-point-7 percent growth recorded last year.
According to the Global Financial Stability report released by the International Monetary Fund on the same day, rising geopolitical tensions will impact trade and foreign investment --with South Korea affected due to its relations with China and the United States.
