Do you think the Canon C200 is worth it in 2024? I definitely think it still has its place in the market as one of the best budget cinema cameras you can get! It still has plenty of modern features & is still one of Canon's best values in their cinema camera line!

I think it is a great camera for a Podcast Studio, Good AF, good battery life, EF Mount. Perfect for this

Saying full frame is a better image compared to Super35 is pretty debatable considering all Hollywood movies are still shot on Super35.

Nice video. "It's Not the Plane, It's the Pilot"- Top Gun: Maverick

It shines with the CN-E 18-80 and using the RAW workflow. 8bit looks great if you expose correctly.

You can get 10bit 2k via hdmi/sdi to external recorder.

No need for a new latest camera in 2024. I've been still using C300s and FS5s I've never had a new camera. BTW I personally wouldn't buy from anywhere except Adorama. Their return policy and quality control is very accurate. Their "well used" is still in very good shape, and as of today Sep 25, 2024, C200s are going for $1670.

So I’ve tried being on the cutting edge and buying gear when it first came out and also tried being on the trailing edge….”still good enough for now”. I’m now a retired hobbiest, so my preference going forward is to buy in the newer side of the curve, not be limited and hopefully get a 10 year runway before “not being good enough”. 10 years is a long time in camera world, but the C100ii and 70D made that goal as did my XHA1 back in the day.

It’s nice to be on the front edge, enjoy the new capabilities, and then have years to learn and optimize the gears use while its capabilities hold up to newer offerings.

I’ve also “missed” on new tech as when I bought the 7D upon release. It was almost immediately obsoleted by the 70D’s excellent dual pixel autofocus, audio controls, and a number of other features.

My C200 is used almost on a daily basis. Mainly because of the form factor. Yes, I want the C300iii but couldn't justify the lofty price yet.

Great video, answered many of my questions.
As a relative beginner to video currently using a 5d3, I was tempted to go the camcorder route (XA50) for simple Youtube videos but the C200 looks like something I could learn from and I already have some decent EF lenses.

Love my C200 in 2025

Best thing about the C200, it will never go away @ $1700
12bit, 10bit, best in class 8bit
CFast 2.0 have come down in price vs. 3-4 year’s ago

If you have a good iMac and you only shoot raw and you already have top ef lenses and already have cfast 2.0 cards and resolve studio the c200 is amazing ! 1000% useable still even against newer cameras I find it hard to replace the damn thing especially for the price can’t be matched only down side to the camera is autofocus its worst then the eos r auto focus which isn’t to bad and the low light is kinda bad I wouldn’t say horrible but not great. But I do want the r5c to use as a B cam on the gimbal lol

Honestly, if you work in a narrative setting. It’s solid! For example, the FX6 dosnt shoot RAW. The C200 is about 2, 000$ I believe, and the FX6 is 6, 000$. It retains its value, but yea, maybe time to upgrade.

To my knowledge, cinema cameras sensors are not quite comparable to photography camera sensors. So I wonder if the image quality difference with the R6 is the sensor size. 10bit / 8 bit could be the reason, maybe also the R6 being a 20mp sensor which makes it great in low light.
Thanks for the video 👍🏼

Believe it or not my production company shoots with a couple of the old C300m2 for the ergonomics and a couple of R3 for gimbal related work for tv work such as cooking shows, traveling, magazines and documentary. Latest and greatest is good and all but profit in the pocket is more important at the end of the day than to spend money constantly on new upgrades on the latest and greatest.

On second-hand platforms in China, the Canon C200 only costs $850, so I am quite interested in buying one now. As for the expensive CFAST 2.0 card, there is a solution to convert from SSD to CFAST 2.0, and 1TB storage costs about $120. But I have a small question, how sensitive is this machine and within what range is ISO available. If possible, I hope you can provide some raw materials. Thank you.

Prices need to come down more. Shooting in raw is too expensive and makes no sense.
