From a roll it's almost impossible to leave even if you don't use the 3 count down. The person flagging will almost always leave early.

Just for reference. The FBO intake nitrous mustang held this GT500 off till 140 on a 40.This NA one till just under 150.. goes to show how much consistency with gear changes makes.
