The Price of Power: Behind SA’s high & unsustainable electricity prices

This month my Eskom bill for just 150 kwh over 29 days is >R2, 040 excl VAT. Including VAT, that works out at >R15 / kwh. The less electricity I use, the higher the unit cost. As an unemployed elderly woman, my modest savings are being exhausted. So much for 'equal access'. So much for that living quota. So much for human dignity. Next time SARS wants another chunk of my change, it can go knock on Eskom's door.
