Geoscience @ UCC: UCC Marine Geology Research Group - Working in the NE Atlantic Ocean
Показать описание
In this video, you will meet several members of the UCC Marine Geology Research Group while they are on a scientific expedition in the NE Atlantic Ocean.
The group was established to answer questions relating to some of the deepest, darkest parts of our world that most people never think about.. The bottom of the sea!
They have a particular interest in coral reefs located off the west coast of Ireland, as #1 they are crucial to healthy ecosystems and #2 they hold amazing high-resolution geological records due to the nature of how they grow and have the ability to trap sediments
They recently made the journey to the Belgica Mound Province, an area noted as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC), where they deployed deep-sea monitoring systems which will collect scientific data over the next year.
