Dr. Jorge L. Chinea

for Latino/a and Latin American
Studies, Wayne State University

Dr. Chinea specializes in colonial Latin American history and has researched the themes of immigration, settlement, and colonial exploitation of the Hispanic Caribbean. His writing has received Wayne State University’s Board of Governors Faculty Recognition
Award.
Dr. Chinea has served on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Humanities Council and currently sits on the Advisory Board of the American Civil Liberties Union of
Michigan.
Each unique session in this webinar series will focus on the history of the Labor Rights Movement. This will include discussion on and around Manifest Destiny and its
effects, Latin American Labor Migration, education, and the revolving door migration experience.
