Senior Tory, Alicia Kearns, tried to claim that Labour left the economy in a mess, and they have left Labour in a better position. Fry countered that our economy (GDP per capita) was as strong as America's in 2008 and is now about half (it's actually 60%). Which is true. Why didn't the Tories continue the recovery of our economy after the banking crisis?

Labour didn’t create an economic mess, there was a worldwide economic crash. And because of how Labour reacted to that the Tories actually inherited an economy that was the quickest to recover out of all EU countries. Unfortunately they then decided to crash our economy by leaving the EU, which Labour would never have done. I’m tired of them blaming everything on a party that was out of power for 14 years.

Our National Debt has spiralled 4 fold under the Tories, but as they went into the GE they said we have a strong healthy economy.

If we were bankrupt in 2010 with a much smaller debt we must surely be in the shit, not have a healthy economy.
