As a comic book artist, being in the comfort zone, lets me draw multiple pages a day at such a rate that if I were a mangaka, I would be on time every single week

Great advice. Sometimes folks get art block because they’re told to keep moving mediums/styles constantly to the point they loose their style or confidence.

I like to compare it to a home. It's good to leave the house and see the world, but you also gotta come home eventually. You have to find a good balance.

This was great! Trying new things is a good thing to do. But you need a place of comfort, of rest, a home to come back to after your adventures into new territories. So you do not get exhausted, or overwhelmed.
I discovered this recently. I had been unmotivated for several year do to the fact that I had lost my comfort zone my artistic home. I found it again thanks to drawing Spyro the dragon for thumbnails for a playthrough I was doing. It made me remembered that I loved drawing dragons, and I loved drawing them in a style that was similar to Spyro. And I have been more motivated since.
Drawing cute dragons is my home, but I will venture out from time to time and try new things, but now I will always have my cute dragons to return to.

In the comfort zone, I find that I am improving too. Getting out of the zone can be nice, but in there is also be great 👍

I honestly really needed to hear this, I've been swamped by commissions and currently been working on a large one that's been really intimidating to the point I've tried pushing myself out of my comfort zone but that only made me more demotivated in the work. I think I know what I can do now.

its funny to me because i want to stay in my comfort zone, but then i look at all the progress i've made and its only because i pushed myself. I don't want to draw realistic humans all the time. I want to stick to my cartoon animals like yourself, Toniko. But every once in a while i push myself to do something im not comfortable with and it just adds much more to my drawings after. Drawing is complicated, and by that i mean the "We" aspect of it. Cheers.

This is my comfort zone: After finishing my editing work, I start opentoonz or do some charakter-design and I work on my never ending project,
I love this so much that I have become a little bit unsocial, but if I had the choice, animating über alles!

This is so true. Make yourself win every day but... as a beginner, you have to take the effort and allow yourself to grow and expand your skills. It will make you a better artist.

I’m 30 now, graduated from art school 4 years ago. Been doing personal projects while I work at a full time non-art job in order to survive, and struggling to break into the animation industry. Many people told me that my work is good enough, but without connections with art professional, it doesn’t matter how talented I am. Unfortunately, even if I break out of the comfort zone, Which is rigorously creating music video I spent for months and still not getting enough view counts, not gettin paid, or this kind of style is not what recruiters are looking for. As for me, I cannot go into an art comfort zone when it comes to job searching and finding connections until I put my foot into the industry.

A lot of these are work related, which surprised me! Coming from origami I knew that doing the same thing again and again leads to more confident hand motions and easier stylization. Still enjoyed the video though because they were all important points
