Man, the trope of the black guy dies first is so strong it killed the unkillable character.

Yknow what they could’ve actually done with Darwin? They could’ve turned him to stone where they thought he trapped himself in his own statue. They all leave while still believing he’s dead, just stone. However, later in the movie when they need him he comes running in and explains that his body was still figuring out a way to survive the attack. Once it did, he returned back to normal and began searching for them.

Darwin's mutation realised in what movie he was, so he adapted by promptly leaving the movie.

Like he adapted to the exact same energy literally 10 seconds ago when it came out of Havoc, but now it's coming from Shaw he's sudenly vulnerable?? The HOTTEST garbage ever put to screen right here, greatest disservice to a character's source material ever.

Darwin COULD adapt to that.

Ah yes... Darwin, the mutant that will adapt to literally any situation and is impossible to kill, being killed. The director and writers really understood the source material.

Darwin cannonically adapted to the point where he could tear the universe into pieces and put it back together. Him dying was the writers and directors fears that he nullified any kind of struggle in the plot.

They really had the opportunity for Darwin to show up to help save the day in the climax having adapted to survive somehow and completely missed. His mutation would have also done wonders to make the Bad Future Sentinels even more terrifying in Days of Future Past

This scene made no sense to me when I first saw this movie, before I knew anything else about Darwin other than what’s told and shown in the movie. If he adapts to everything, then he’d adapt to the ring until it disappears or he absorbs it. Why would he explode? The rings don’t explode, they just slice through stuff, and he’d adapt to the explosion. This guy became a death god by adaptation, including him was silly.
