this is only something new in America. In many countries in europe general anesthesia is either last resort or specially asked by the patient. Not only is cheaper, but the side effects are limited.

I was awake for my cardiac monitor implementation and removal and later for my pacemaker placement. I had to have my pacemaker replaced and let them use drugs and woke up feeling horrible and mean.

If I ever have to have more surgery it will be awake and that way I know who they try to let be in there. No student techs or nurses, no videos, no persons opposite sex except for the doctor that I might choose because I have met and trust them.. I guess for me I am demanding to be in contact troll of what is done and who does it.

Hospitals have a bad habit of not telling you the truth or at best withholding the facts and just giving you the info they want you to know so due to this I’d rather be 100% awake and alert not sedated. Just a nerve block. However in saying that I also don’t fancy a spinal due to the risks of headache and urine retention back pain etc. Other risks such as nerve damage are less common.
