I never heard of ACTS- ADORATION, CONFESSION, THANKSGIVING, SUPPLICATION until today.

We had prayers today at our church but in Spanish. So this helps to remember how we should pray. Obviously we don’t know how to pray, but the Holly Spirit will guide our prayers thank you!!!

I’ve been using PRAY. Praise Repent Ask Yield. Give praise to the Lord, repent and confess our sins, ask for forgiveness and ask for your needs and needs for others, yield for the Lord to speak if He so chooses.

We must come close to God and makesure we reconcile with any brothers or sisters over any sin before coming close to God's throne in prayer

This formula is good for those new to the faith and to those who have been walking with the LORD for years.

Thanks for the video. The ACTS prayer is excellent for people who want a little help, or prayer training wheels. Once you become good at it the training wheels can come off, otherwise they might get in the way. The break down in this video was okay, however, it missed the second part of confession. First you confess sin, and forgive others, but then you move into confessing who you are in Christ. It's a massive part if you want to build yourself, or your children up in Christ. It's a great way to have a confident heart posture before moving into thanks and supplication. I hope this helps. Blessings.

It is significant that Jesus told his people how to pray. What we call the Lord’s Prayer. This is the best answer of all, but we don’t like it. We want to create our own answer! Haha. The last 7 questions of the Westminster Shorter Catechism really explain the meaning of these words and have been so helpful. The important thing is to stop talking about it and do it, in love and obedience. Get into the batters box and start swinging.

I've been praying using the ACTS model for many years now, but because it helps me personally as I am a prayer rambler. I don't think this model works for everyone, as from my experience while attempting to guide my old church body through it, most people can't understand the difference between adoration and thanksgiving, no matter how many times you explain it to them. They think they're the same. So while it works for me in helping me stay structured and to not forget adoration for who God is, it's definitely not for everyone. Especially the new believer.

I start off with thanksgiving and praise, then confession, then forgiveness for others, then supplications. Then finish off with the Lord's prayer to cover any bases I might have missed.

I have a question - aside from these formulas.... Can you just talk to Jesus? Are those prayers even considered prayer?
I talk to the Lord constantly. Right? Because it was instilled in me as a new believer that we should pray without ceasing. It became a part of my life.
Now as I'm growing up in Him, I am looking to get rid of the things that don't serve Him.
