Jeff you’ve saved the heads of hundreds, if not thousands, of IKEA fasteners with this video. Those things shattered with my M12 impact driver on speed 1.

I work in aviation and bought a drill/impact set for my first day. My boss looked through my box and saw the impact driver and told me to take it home. Impacts generally aren't used in aviation. So I went out and bought the brushless Dewalt 12v screwdriver. I love it, I use it every day and it's one of my more versatile tools.

I'm in the HVAC trade and have encountered so many stripped screws! Impact drivers have their place BUT not on screws in the sheet metal! Thank you for presenting this information! ❤

I've been using my Ridgid subcompact drill. Its got all the clutch settings to not strip screws. And its actually smaller than most of the 12v screwdrivers in the video.

You are/were so right on this topic. I went strait to Home Depot and picked up the Brushed M12 kit last night. Funny thing is, the display had the two pack of 1.5 batteries that come with the screwdriver, case and charger for the same price. Definitely the tool everybody needs and dont know it. Great topic. Thank you.

Thanks buddy for posting this!!!! Because of your vid, I went and bought the Milwaukee on sale at HD for $69. I am building my wife a barn door and this thing is perfect for it. Thanks man!!!

I use the surge hydraulic impact driver on setting 1 or 2, it's not as powerful as a regular impact but still has plenty of power for bigger bolts. Works perfectly for me.

I completely agree with this. I bought a motorcycle back in January. It turns out the previous owner stripped out most of the bolts holding on the fairings. I'm betting he used an impact driver.

Not going to lie, my Milwaukee fuel 12v screwdriver is my FAVORITE power tool and has been for years! Thanks for the great video sharing the knowledge

Drill with a clutch? Came in the combo, might as well use it. Most drill chucks are 3 jaw so they can grab your hex stuff.

As a small engine technician I swear by my DeWalt dcf601 screw driver. When you're doing assembly/disassembly it goes 10x faster and you won't damage delicate pieces by over torquing. It also helps keep you from stripping out chinesium screws

So true. I am an occasional DIY'er and gave up using the drill driver because I kept stripping screw heads. Had to resort to my favorite power tool: biceps. Will have to look into one of these.

I have the Milwaukee m12 screwdriver. I love it! Don’t know how I got along without it. It makes fast work out of assembling items that the fasteners that don’t need a lot of torque. Hell I’ve even driven smaller fasteners into soft woods and mdf without a problem or it bogging down.

I can't listen to Jeff talk without the bear. Messes me all up!

I do auto collision repair, and I use my dewalt xtreme 12v screw gun so much more than my impact driver. Have the 12v impact wrench for metal panels, and the screw gun for interior/bumpers/trim. I use it daily!

When I'm building a fence or deck I use 20v tools for the power they carry but when putting together prefab cabinets I'll switch to my 12v tools. The 12v just make sense less weight, good speed and power that doesn't leave you tired after a full day and they're smaller so they fit in tighter spaces.

Jeff I'm surprised that you'd have a problem with the M12 handles, I figured with your big paws they'd fit you fine. I'm 6'3" but I don't have particularly huge hands and the M12 are extremely comfortable to me. I love the fact that with the 1.5Ah battery they're pretty much the smallest full power tools you can get. I also have a brushed and a Fuel impact, I put the screwdriver or nut driver in the brushed and a drill bit in the Fuel and I can drill pilot holes and drive screws without changing bits and both tools fit on a ladder rung.

Great video!! I'm into woodworking, mainly guitars. I really don't care for brushless high-power tools near higher priced woods.

I just picked up the DeWalt right-angle attachment with a bit set in the clearance section of a local Home Depot for 14 bucks. I thought about getting the Milwaukee M12 screwdriver but got the drill/driver kit on sale, so the drill serves as a screwdriver in lower settings and fits in my Packout drawer perfectly. My Packout setup is for live performance and the M12 drill is perfect as a catch-all screwdriver or drill if I need it on the road.

I only bought my first cordless screwdriver within the last 6 months -- Bosch pocket driver. You're 100% correct, I was destroying things trying to ride the trigger on an impact driver when it was too much for the application.

I hate the M12 brushed version though, to be honest.

I've used the Dewalt one for years and loved it. I work in commercial refrigeration and it is the perfect tool for working on contractors, terminal blocks, etc. I can adjust the clutch and just let it go and not have to worry about over-tightening any of the dozens of small screw I have to turn on a daily basis.
