The Porsche Taycan is fun to drive, but is it as fun as ice drifting a 911 GT3? Drifting on ice is fun, drifting on ice in a Porsche is even more fun getting to do it in a 911 GT3, a Carrera 4S, a Cayman GT4 Clubsport and a Taycan is just heavenForce Pro is THE place to go if you're interested in spending a few days learning how to have sideways fun in a bunch of different Porsches. But which is more fun slide around on the ice and snow?

I was interested in that trip to drive the cars until I heard the cost.

I enjoyed every second of that video. I cannot start to think of how good it is behind the wheel.
Great video. Thank you for giving us a refreshing look outside our closed houses.

Spectacular film. Though I don't think you needed to grope around so much for a 'journalistic reason' to justify an awesome trip. But I would like to know how your new skills transfer to tarmac. There you go, a 'journalistic reason' to head to Porsche Silverstone ;-)

As a teenage driver and while raised in the Great White North. I always took my annual winter car(s) (beaters to be purchased for less than $2K to endure the winter roads and salts) on frozen lakes. No matter the car, as soon as the ice thickened enough to endure the weight of a car (local authorities did the hard work as it also opened ice fishing season). I took it upon myself to learn how to handle it on ice and without the studded tires. And for all those years of practice, never had an accident in the snow.
It teaches you so much on the behavior of rear vs front wheel vs all wheel. And forces you to think 2 turn ahead as while you dealing with limited traction, and dealing with the inertia corner to corner. When you get it right, its like a ballet corner to corner. Why else do we have a record number of world champion Scandinavian rally drivers
I wish it was part of the student driver training (where winter roads conditions apply). Because its a safe environment (what are you going to hit? A snowbank?) and an extreme in low traction training.

BTW, best car on snow so far. Audi A4 Quattro on Bridgestone Blizzak. By far.

On the point of the practical 911, it’s true with the exception of putting a human in the back

Porsche owner here has had two of them 997 C2S and 981 GT4 (still own) ; as long Porsche produces internal combustion engines they have me as a customer. Don’t care if the torque and acceleration of EV is superior, I care about engine sound and driving involvement.

Is “hitting the gas” when talking about driving the Taycan appropriate? Great video! GT3 for the win! 😁

Great video but I don’t see the point in electrifying the 911. Surely, given that cars constitute only a fraction of carbon emissions, $100K+ sports cars constitute a minuscule fraction of those cars, and the 911 is only one of those sports cars, the environment won’t extraordinarily suffer if it remains powered by a flat-6?

On either side of the issue, car reviewers always create a false dichotomy between ICE-power and environmental sustainability, but the best solution must be that which minimizes environmental impact and while catering to the niche of people interested in a traditional 911. Electrify the SUVs and the 718, replace the Panamera with the Taycan, but keep the 911 true to its heritage.

Best video featuring Drew by far! The reason? Your passion shone through when you did your off the cuff pieces to camera after each stint. Make it more like that and you’ll win over the haters.

If you had to pick one last assignment to work on before lockdown you would have made the perfect choice. Fun, in a stunning location, and you came away better for it too. And reassured us that electric can still be enjoyable.

The lack of sound means you get to hear your sweet eurobeat better!

Also, Porsche really should make a Group R-GT Cayman.
