How to Match Skin Tone in Photoshop CC 2017

Ever wanted to match the skin tone in your image to any other skin from any other image or even the same image? In this episode of skin retouching in Photoshop we are going to learn how to use the traditional curves adjustment layer to automatically and accurately match skin tone of your subject to any other reference image or the same image.

At times, you might not prefer the skin tones in your images. Whether you want to whiten skin in photoshop or darken it, or maybe you find the skin to be too red or too yellow. At this point, instead of adjusting skin tone with the curves, you can easily pick an image, either from the web or your own image library that has the desirable skin tone and match your subject's skin to it using this accurate and simple method. This will make fixing skin tones much easier, convenient and accurate.

Due to lighting or makeup, sometimes the skin color on the face becomes different from the body. In those situations too, you can easily use this technique to even out skin tone in Photoshop. In this skin tone tutorial, you will also learn how to change skin color in Photoshop. You might want to edit skin in order to color it differently. In that case, all you need to do is to pick a reference image with a subject of the skin color of your choice and you're good to go.

Hey Unmesh, I've got a little "extra" tip for this tutorial. Instead of trying to eyeball the luminosity, switch the info panel to display the sampled color in CMYK. This way you can find the exact black level and match accordingly.

I know this is an older video, but I just found it for myself. Awesome tutorial. I always hated it when I would take multiple photos of the same person, like my wife, and for various reasons her skin would look a little too different for my taste in the photos. Now I’ll have a way to match her skin more closely. I feel that will help to give my photos a more cohesive look.

You are so freakin awesome. I just tried this. It was so easy. I had two photographs one was black and white, the other in color. I colorized the b&w photo with some free tool and then used your tutorial here to fix the skin tones to match using the other photo. So amazing.
