👩🏾‍⚕️Hair loss is a distressing experience. If you are experiencing hair loss please don’t suffer in silence. There are many different causes of hair loss and early diagnosis and treatment is extremely important.

👩🏾‍⚕️If you are seeing or feeling changes with your hair/scalp please don’t delay in seeing a dermatologist for consultation.

📝Here are some tips to prepare for a dermatologist appointment for hair loss.

👉🏾 Prepare to review and discuss your medical history and your family medical history (chronic conditions, surgeries, child birth etc) we need this information to get a full picture of what may be contributing to your hair loss.

👉🏾 Bring a copy of your latest bloodwork and a list of medications and/or supplements you are currently taking or used in the past. We will likely still order additional bloodwork but this gives us a good starting point.

👉🏾 Keep a hair journal with both notes of your symptoms (itching/burning/tenderness/fatigue/stress/fever) but also photos to document your journey. Please be ready to share photos of your scalp over the last few years with your derm. This helps us identify potential triggers.

👉🏾Be prepared to show your entire scalp for evaluation. We can’t not see under braids/sewn-ins/ etc. odds are you waited awhile for your appointment please make the most of it by coming fully prepared for complete evaluation possible biopsy, and treatment.

👉🏾 Bring a list or photos of the products you are using on your hair. Including any chemicals (we need to know the last time your relaxed and if natural we need to know any hair treatments used in the past).

👉🏾Bring your Q’s written down or in the notes section of your phone. This is an emotional journey and you may forget something you wanted to ask.

👉🏾Most important don’t feel embarrassed we are here to help you and will work closely together as a team to get you on the best treatment plan for your particular diagnosis.

I have alopecia. My hairstylist noticed it and immediately told me to see a dermatologist. She stressed don't listen to the home remedies. Go see a doctor. I had to receive injections on the bald spots. I did and I can happily say my hair has grown back.

I have alopecia and recieved these treatments when I was first diagnosed in middle school. They didn't work. I just want to say if your hair doesn't grow back you are OK. It does not define you💙

I went to see a dermatologist and she said it's nothing she could do and this was the 3rd one. I'm seeing this now and I'm not going to give up🙏🙏🙏I don't have the money to travel to another State as a single mom it's hard to find a babysitter but I know God is a good God and something will work out🙏🙏🙏

After using a wide-tooth neem comb and littllextraa cocoonnoin hair oil shampoo set has made an excellent improvement in my hair fall. My hairs are less likely to hair fall and looks glossier. This blend really is working for hair fall control.

I have alopecia and went to see a doctor when I was in my twenties now about to be 40, and they told me it’s because I get relaxers. I had natural hair, they didn’t even examine me or take me seriously. I also had bad psoriasis at the time. It was so disheartening and now all my hair is gone. I will look into seeing a black dermatologist but I don’t think my hair can grow back.

thank you for making your patients feel comfortable 💜 there are a surprising number of dermatologists out there that will make you feel like never showing your skin again (or hair in this case)

Went to dermatologist, they took thousands of dollars from me with my hair getting worse. Never again. I’m seeing better results on my own

Black and on Medicaid. They don’t bother with diagnosis.

I had this problem 8 years ago. Had a shock and suddenly spots came out in head and beard, quite big like 3-4cm radius. Went to dermatologist and i got several lotions based on cortisol, i put those for about 3 months nothing happened. I was desperate. Then went to Thailand on holiday and visited a specialist and i got an injection of steroid (little dose) there in the medical center. After 3 months thin white hairs started to grow again on those spots then after 1 year from the first loss everything came back to normal and since then i never had that issue. I also had psoriasis on my arms at that time. Seems all was connected to that shock however since that episode when things get too stressed I always think what i went through and i promised myself not to give a fuck and be careful to my health and control the stress. I don’t know if my hairs were about to grow again in any case, if that injection really made the difference or not. I cannot really say. But this is my story with spotted alopecia.

Hi! I'm 21 yrs old and last 1 yr I went through a massive amount of hairloss. I did go to a derm for help but rather than examining properly, he just said that it's most likely hereditary and randomly prescribed some haircare products. But 3 months of use and my hairfall shows no sign of decline. 😢

Hi, I’m a 11 year old girl and I also have alopecia. So when I was 15 months old I had to take a shot so I don’t get sick.A few months later my hair started to fall out then I was bald a 4 or 5 years old. A few years later my hair grew back but there was just tiny spots. Now I have more volume in my hair now it grew back but my eyebrows have little spots on it soo ya that’s pretty much how it went.😅❤

Well, it kinda does depending on your interpretation. Plus it's easier said if you don't have significant hair loss.
