Possibly a controversial opinion: I wish people would stop being angry with idols for black cultural appropriation and recognized it as appreciation instead. As a black person, as long as hairstyles are not done in a way that look like they are mocking or insulting my culture, then I don't care. It's not like they are using slurs and doing black face at the same time. Most of the time it's clear that the stylists and idols think the styles are cool or pretty. I see nothing wrong with sharing styles. It's weird to claim to want a world of racial equality but we can't even let someone enjoy a hairstyle. Having braids or dreadlocks because you think they are pretty is not offensive. As a black woman that's the reason I had dreads

I don't expect everyone to agree, especially since this world is so divided but I think its worth asking yourself "why am I offended by this and how is this hurting anyone?" Or "why exactly is this a bad thing for them to use?"

Tbh imo I think the only one closley similar to NewJean's concept in ILLIT's album is Lucky Girl Syndrome with the styling. Yes, the production sounds the same because of the beats, but that doesnt mean they plagiarized everything.

Also by the dance, yes, somehow one of the dance moves in the song My World choregroaphy was similar to Attention, but that doesnt mean theyre trying to be NewJeans.

I can understand some things about the "copying" thing: kinda fast and kinda hard choreo, and all songs from each groups are all upbeat. But no, just because they had similarities doesnt mean they copied NewJeans.
