In the third part of suspension air leak hunting on the 96 Newell Coach I yet again run into some more things I need to fix...some of which are my own errors lol. Learn from my mistakes!

This was one of the funniest videos you've uploaded. I don't know why we humans find someone else's pain so funny but many of us do and the way you played on that in this one was hilarious. As a retired OTR driver who was always an owner operator doing as many of my own repairs as I could. I know your pain of chasing air leaks they can be one of the most annoying/irritating things on a vehicle that uses air systems. So yes, every small victory should be viewed as a huge win in my opinion, good job...

Glad you are using compression Fittings. Chasing air leaks in semis and motor homes is always a chore. By doing it yourself you know its done right.

in the immortal words of my Father. "Tight is right and too tight is wrong" don't hulk out on brass fittings brass is porous and brittle. like the content and congrats on finishing "race week".

Cooper is your co-pilot? Heck yes man. I seen you guys talking about it on Instagram. Hopefully Cleetus can give you some exposure to boost your channel.

Love the progress on the coach my man! I drive semis and thats basically what you have and in all seriousness you need to have zero issues with anything air related. It is very tough on a 25 year old semi let alone a house ontop. Don't let it get you down because when you get 1 leak fixed it will start to make more constant pressure and then the other points of failure start to go. Side note on air bags, replace ALL at same time lol

Put a fitting on your air system. Then you can use your shop air to keep her aired up when parked.
Great videos!!!
Thanks

Great to know Cooper will be your copilot. Great work on fixing another leak. This kind of sisterms are a bit of a domino, fix one thing and one more leaks/breaks. Sort of pressurehammer problem.
Keep up the great work

You'll get it beat. It's frustrating and a PITA. I work on my own truck too. Can't wait to see you and Cleeter on RMRW. You'll both be able to drive each others vehicle without adjusting the seat lol

Awesome, you have mastered the fine art of leak tracing. There will always be periodic leaks from time to time and you are probably the first person to actually address these issues on your rig. The good news is that most of these issues are fairly easy to fix, but they almost always take much longer than expected. The reason the air tanks have different fittings is because each unit is custom to the buyers specs, the tanks themselves are a standard pipe thread bung which is universal to all tanks, only the size changes depending upon application (3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 typically). Push fittings were all the rage in the 90s, the latest great idea, but the plastic fittings dry out and split or the locking ring would fail, like yours. Brass compression fittings are significantly better, but over time hose will soften from heat, weather, vibration, and road debris, so eventually they will need attention as well.
You will definitely need to remove the wheels to replace the air bladders. The easiest way is to drive up onto a 4x8 block of wood with the drive axle tire and that will allow you to remove the tag axle wheel without the need of a jack, then you have the space you need to replace and repair the air ride components for that axle. Keep in mind that you will probably need a set of large box-end/open-end wrenches and maybe a 3/4 socket for the lug nuts and heavier fasteners.
One important note, you should have a service travel check list to use before you go on long trips. You can probably get one from the truck stop. The reason you want one is because along with the typical things you check like fluid levels, lights, tire pressure, there are items such as slack adjuster travel, cab marker and running lights, torque lugs, tread depth, and other items commercial vehicles need to check. Some states exempt personal RVs, but some states don't, so having a list will help you be better prepared all around. Most people would schedule a service, but when you can do it yourself, why not.
Glad to see you are so determined because these vehicles are dirty, heavy, and require creative ingenuity to solve problems without heavy jacks and equipment.
Mitchell, you are doing a great job. I know you are figuring things out because each video I see those wheels turning in your eyes.
Just so you know, I have broken those stupid fittings too I'm 5'6", definitely not a gorilla. Lol

I do know what they are and you are doing just great, what you are finding out , is priceless because the next time get easier the job can be difficult, but your head well work better solving the issue and what you need.
