My sister absolutely loved Dave and the DMB. She's passed away. Listening to him and the band always makes me feel so close to her. She had "wash out this tired notion, that the best is yet to come" tattooed on her waist. Her ashes are at the Gorge where she loved spending labor Dave weekend. I miss you Catie. Here's to you, #41!

There is something so special about this song, whether it’s just Dave singing it for five minutes or the entire band jamming for 20 + minutes at a live show, it is literally the best song ever written

#41 has spoke to me for years. Saved me. Inspired me to continue on. Thanks for putting these little shows out in the world Dave. Well done.

Think how talented you need to be to sound like this LIVE.

I remember being younger - 16 years old - picking up Crash after work one afternoon. I listened to it that night and heard this song. Honestly I cried. With everything that had happened to that point: my fathers illness, his death, many years mom just lying in a state of depression, the eviction - this song just struck a nerve and has ever since. It's so beautiful. It is my favorite song of his and one I love to play myself. He'll probably never read this, but thank you Dave for your amazing sincerity, heart and passion for what you do. I'd listen to albums every single night and they helped me through some of the worst moments anyone should ever go through.

Might be the greatest #41 version I’ve ever heard. 22 year diehard fan.

Something so pure about just Dave and his guitar. The whole band is brilliant, but the simplicity of this set up is sweet.

Whether it’s stadium crowd, an intimate setting, it doesn’t matter...This man, this band, and this song are passion incarnate. It’s always a pleasure and an inspiration to listen. To the band members: I’ve been following DMB for over a decade now after being exposed to you guys through a friend of yesteryore, and I just want to say thank you for all you are and do. God bless you all & may the universe grant you finest fortune friends 🤘😎🤙

You know, I'm 64, have been to so many DMB and Dave and Tim shows over the years I lost count. Didn't put in a request because so many of his songs mean so much and mark so many special memories with my wife and 3 children at his shows. This tune is among my absolute favorites, both of my daughter's have quoted lyrics from Sister at each other's weddings from their maid of honor toasts and the lyrics from this song are framed and have been hanging on their bedroom wall since they were young teenagers, and my son loves almost anything from DMB and insisted we bucket list seeing DMB on 9/4/2016 at The Gorge because he was concerned they might not return after they decided to take a year off. Sadly, it marked Boyd's last show. Thankfully we all saw them again in Saratoga in 2018 and 2019 and as Covid draws to a close we are anxiously waiting for the return to Saratoga so the family, and spouses and girlfriends and friends can gather on the lawn on a warm summer night to share another great moment and memories. Thank you Dave, Tim, Carter, Stefan, , Leroi, Buddy, Rashawn, Jeff and Boyd, we miss you all, and have made your music a part of our life since 1994.

On the unlikely chance that you're reading these, Dave....that was a great touch starting playing this song at .41 seconds into the video.
Love your music, man.

It's nearly 2am here in Canada and I'm just home from a shift at the hospital as a frontline worker. Can't quite sleep. I used to have a very special relationship with this song. I've listened to it thousands of times. Then 5 years ago some personal issues happened and suddenly listening to it became too emotional for me. I saw this on my feed as I'm lying here. I couldn't help myself. Within the first 3 cords the tears were starting to splash all over me.

This song came up right after I learned the news my grandfather passed away after weeks of being incapacitated in hospice. I couldn’t hold the tears falling from eyes. Every time I hear this song now I'm going to think of you grandpa. R.I.P

I’m a kindergarten teacher in Illinois who has loved and admired you for 28 years. When you’re having a sad day, please know that you alone have been my sanity in this crazy time. Your lyrics touch my soul on a wave length and deep level that I don’t think most humans are capable of accessing. Please keep yourself and your family safe and healthy. I don’t know what I’d do without your music. Thank you for being you.

Listening to the line "remember when you and me used to play for all of the loneliness that nobody notices now" while he plays alone during covid to a socially distanced audience finished me and it's only 9 am..
