The evidence seems to suggest that heretical beliefs about Christ's nature (e.g. Gnosticism, Arianism, Islam, Unitarianism) were the late inventions whereas our orthodox beliefs were closest to Christ's Apostles & the Fathers.

When we came to the US at age 5, I used to go to vacation Bible school because my parents said we have to learn about the people and country we live in and learn about Christianity. I happened to be in D.C. the day the exhibit opened, not even aware of the fact that it was opening that day and were among the first group to see it. They also were filming a documentary on it and interviewed me. As a military chaplain, seeing this mosaic from a Roman legionary camp declaring ‘God Jesus Christ’ was profoundly moving. It’s incredible to witness evidence of military members worshiping Jesus in their time, even in the Roman army. Being among the first to view it was a humbling reminder of how faith has been among military members throughout history!
