Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands and makers as well as the collectors!

In this channel, I will give information found in my research about the brand, the construction, and the materials, but I will express my personal opinions about how I feel about the boots reviewed.

Full Disclosure
If any video is sponsored (where I receive cash payment), I will declare it clearly in the video and in the description. Even if a video is sponsored, I will review the product openly and honestly giving you my personal opinion, warts and all, of the product. I will refuse any sponsorship deals where I am fettered in what I have to say.

I may be given products to review, which is different from receiving cash payment for reviewing an item. In these cases, I insist that the provider of the goods has no rights to what I say and may not review the video before I publish it. Again, my opinion will be honest and my own.

Some of the links I placed above are affiliate links. Buying from an affiliate link will not cost you any more, but I may receive a small payment from the platform of up to 6%.

For the last 40 years I’ve been a land surveyor working out in the field. On a typical day I’d walk 8-15 miles on everything between a concrete freeway to steep rugged forest. Boots like this are my favorite. The are the right height to keep things from entering, and you leave the top eyelet undone and they don’t dig into your ankles (unlike most boots today which are to short). Unfortunately a couple of problems, unless you are walking on rebar, flat crepe soles are terrible. They wear poorly and are dangerously slippery once you leave the pavement/trail. Boots need a heel! Also the top 3 eyelets should be hooks not speed laces. So close to the perfect boot but every manufacturer plays follow the competition and keeps putting on lousy crepe soles on their 7-8” moc toes or makes the uppers an inch to short to be comfortable as an actual boot. Plenty of heavy PNW boots for the rough stuff, but almost nothing (besides Russell Mocs) for when you need a hard wearing medium duty boot. Especially in hot summer.
Anyway Great review as always. Was hoping if I keep harping on it some manufacture will listen. Guys still need real work boot for outdoors and crepe soles aren’t it. 👍🏼

I’ve worn mine a lot, and I agree on the sizing. They are distinctly too big at a half size down. I should have gone a full size down. If I wear very thick socks and tie them with a heel lock technique (you can google it), the heel slip is tolerable. But they are not the great walking boots that I was hoping for because of the sizing. On the bright side, they are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn for standing long hours. I have stood watching my daughter’s track meets for five hours and was amazed at how my feet and legs did not get tired.

Great update, Teik! I have the same mixed feelings with my Field Boots, you know, those two moments. But still, I think these are some of my favorite boots, very different from the others. I have them in the Earth and Brown CXL and found them very supple; maybe it is the nature of those leathers.

Regarding sizing, I went a full size down and one width up (8E), and they feel great! I thought a half-size down in my regular D width could be too long.

BTW, I love the cap! Cheers mate!

On sizing, I found the same thing with my Brass boots ( on the same last). I should have gone down a full size...I saw some advice on one of the Dale's leather works videos about going down a size but up a width. I haven't tried it, but would be interested to hear if anybody has

Great video! So do you think I should go down a full size down for brass boot?
How do you keep your wedge soles so clean!?

Would you recommend going down a 1/2 size? I have the diesel in 10 EEE.

1 year old and the rubber wedge sole looks pristine. Have you ever considered that you have so many boots that one year of ownership for you is only like one month of ownership for people with less boots? Idk, maybe it's just the title of "1 year review" that bugs me. To most people that means being worn for the majority of one year.
