I’m in UK. As we say, it’s a bit parky. I have lots of layers on plus the heating and I’m suspicious that the weather isn’t even natural. The summer was really hot. Now we’re so cold. Feels like warfare to grind us down.

Bottom line, if you're on minimum wage (most service jobs in UK) then paying for both heating and rent is an impossibility. It's gone beyond lifestyle choices and attempts at frugal living... You simply can't eat, pay rent and stay warm.

Fertiliser is also energy intensive to produce, it's already tripled in price this year and will probably triple again next year. This means lower crop yields (up to 90%), so much less food available. Some areas of the Midwest in the US are turning into dustbowls - no crops planted, so the topsoil blows away.

I used to live in the UK, and I was shocked about the poor condition of the buildings. In my hone country a new built house must have proper insolation, triple glazed windows, etc. The people insolating the old houses, and the tipycal teraced house in the UK has 20cm thick brick walls, without any insolation. That is the problem, not the energie price.

Here in the uk my central heating is roughly £1.15 per hour so 8 hours of heat per day would be £276 per 30 day month plus daily standing charge.

I live alone so I don’t put it on above 15 degrees. My friends are averaging £1.15 per hour on their smart meters for gas though.
