NASA Just Found The Strangest Planet In The Universe.
J1407b. This may sound like a bunch of random letters mixed together, but in reality it is the name of one of the most fascinating planets astronomers have ever discovered. Nick-named the “Super-Saturn”, this bizarre planet has 37 rings surrounding it that span an astonishing 30 million miles across. In fact, the ring system is so massive and dense that if the planet orbited around the sun, the rings would be visible right here on Earth at night.

Its estimated that the “Super-Saturn” is a gas giant, similar but much bigger than the gas giants in our own solar system. That means if you were to try to land on it you would actually fall straight through into its core where the pressure is great enough to squish you into the size of a peanut.

This planet is definitely special enough to be #1 on our list, but what other strange planets have scientists discovered in the universe? Just how weird can they really get?

Somewhere out there, Earth is in an Aliens YouTube channel

This video makes me fully realize how small of a chance earth had to exist, along with that is life. Earth in itself is such a rare planet but not enough people acknowledge it

Props to all of the brave photographers who travel to all of these planets in order to bring us pictures of them.

The fact that we can observe planets thousands of lightyears away from earth is amazing

It's so amazing to hear someone talk about PSR-B1620-26B. I've always admired that planet for being as resilient as it is. I don't have any conventional role models, but this planet is something that inspires me.

Just a reminder some of these planets may:
1. Be entirely different now
2. Be long gone
3. Swallowed up by their sun
because of how light works and how it travels

The more I learn about other planets the more I realize how absolutely rare and specific the conditions have to be for life to flourish. Like damn aliens COULD exist, but they could be anywhere in the universe, and there's probably very few of them.
Edit: Could peeps pls stop bothering me about aliens I didn't say they dont exist I said they COULD exist, it would just be kinda difficult for it to come about. Shit, for all we know, there's a whole ass empire out there with a Sith Lord sitting on the throne.

where is the planet with the weird shark-fin looking thing? really had me interested there for a second... misleading titles and thumbnails should be against the rules on youtube

If I don’t see a planet with a shark fin, I’m going to be pissed.

I’m gonna be pretty jealous if people in the future could actually develop something that could allow people to self sustain in space. Like, living a life travelling through the universe has got to be a pretty cool thing.

I really would love to know how scientists can measure the age of a planet millions of light years away?

I like the idea that when humans advance enough they could slowly progress through slightly larger planets and eventually people that live on a massive planet could come back to earth and be an absolute super human

10:18 How do you know it has survived? The light took 12 billion years to get to us, it doesn't mean the planet is 12 billion years old. It most likely not there now.

The old planet is really interesting. Definitely want to know more about it. It could hold the answers of our existence and life on it is highly possible. To be able to survive for so long, surely someone or something takes care of it.

Planet Tinder: My name is WASP-12B
Match: Really!? I’d have guessed you were a PSRB 1620!!

I’d like to think that the planet at the end that’s surviving despite having dead stars around it could very well be an alien-made Death Star.

Perhaps that older planet which is not supposed to be alive had an advanced species that somehow managed to protect it.

How does NASA measures gravity of other planets just by looking at them? That's amazing!

I don't think at this point in our observations are able to determine much more then atmospheric composition using spectrum analysis. We can't tell if a planet is tidally locked other then making a hypothesis based on distance to star which is also shaky at this point in our technology.
