It is insane to me how even a piece of dust in front of something that far would dim it, yet we can still see the star itself, so to speak. So does that mean that there is nothing blocking it’s light completely for that entire distance?? Crazy

I would assume that there are sun spots on the star, so as it rotates, even if it's relatively slow, the light would change how intense it shines, depending on how much of the surface has a sun spot. This would also explain why there are 7 types of pulses.

Eta Carinea is about 100 solar masses its 3 million years old and it's companion is 30-80 solar masses. Both blue giant stars.
