Dota 2 Diretide 2020 explained quickly

The game mode is fun. Just two things are annoying about Diretide 2020:
1) Reward system os atrocious: Only every 5 or 6 or so matches you get a reward. Most of those rewards are crap. The good reward is a chest. You then have to pay money to open the chest, and you are lured in to do that because of fancy immortals that can be in there. But the chance to get anything decent is really low. In most cases you'll pay 2 bucks for a key to get a treasure worth 80 cents.
2) A lot of people go into the mode without knowing anything about it. They don't read the tooltips explaining it, or look it up online, or anything. So often enough you play with people have no idea what they are doing.

Can i ask no free here? You need buy a key to open chest? And also does the chest is tradeable? No drops or anything good? Appreciated if someone care to answer this silly question
