Let me bring the perspective of a screenprinter/graphic designer into this: Over simplified logos are usually easier to turn into one colour - which in turn makes it a more cost effective logo to print on clothes, bags and other items.
Countless times have I sat with a customer and tried to explain to them why it is going to cost a fortune to print their full colour logo on 100 t-shirts, only to hear "Well, just make it a one colour print then!".
The nice part of me continues to have a friendly chat, while my brain goes "You have a logo made up of 67 different colours, you daft fuck! You expect me to just MAGICALLY turn that into a one colour logo?"
