Terror expert Mike Yardley has said that criminal disruption prevention orders announced by Priti Patel which could lead to Insulate Britain activists being jailed, are a step too far.

Speaking to talkRADIO's Kevin, the broadcaster said: "I am concerned the right to peaceful protest could be limited in the future if this goes ahead."

Boris Johnson backed the Home Secretary's proposal for the protesters, which he said would "insulate them snuggly in prison where they belong.”

I m a electrician so not rich. I worked over time and Saturdays and paid to insulate my own home 10years ago. What a novel Idea. Paying for something that benefits you for yourself. Sick of people that would rather live their lives like Oliver twist. "Please sir may I have some more"

Fines can be paid by someone else, but jail terms must be served by the offender. Why not protect vital infrastructure? Must we wait until someone invades a power station and turns it off?

Would they prevent a fire engine from getting through if their house was on fire?

Doubt it

Something happened that has nullified every law in Britain . Except of course any laws concerning law abiding citizens . Hmmm !

Seen on videos different approaches from police to different causes who protest. If people die because of Insulate Britain they need to go to prison. It is not a step too far if this happens.

Why can't they go block MPs drive ways, those are the only people who can change things.

This guy certainly knows how to waffle. I suppose a few useful facts managed to surface, which is a bit of a bonus.

Sure we could spend weeks or months changing the legistlation, or maybe just press the accelerator for 5 seconds?

They [the police] managed to keep the traffic moving during the miners strike and numerous other industrial disputes

its NOT a peaceful protest when it directly affects other peoples livelihoods and daily life. Their actions not only endanger lives, but could, and probably will provoke a violent response, that's not peaceful, its provocative. Peaceful is standing on the side of the road with placards, not affecting anyone.

Even though these are very annoying protests, we should be careful about demanding changes to police powers. There might be a time when you want to protest about something that affects you and you can't because you demanded more police power for this.
