Nobody seems to have posted yet, this is in the harbour tunnel. The water ONLY comes down if the truck driver has ignored multiple previous over size warnings. The sheet of water is a FINAL warning to the truck driver before they literally smash into the roof of the tunnel. Oversized trucks smashing into his tunnel bring the city to its knees.

This has happened on many occasions.

It doesn't stay on, it doesn't come on for cars, it's only for OVERSIZED trucks.

If you are a truck driver and you see this you have fucked up big time.

The problem is that if the truck got this far (after passing through many warning signs) it still causes major traffic problems because traffic has to be completely stopped to remove the truck. This is why the fines are huge. But at least it stops the truck from damaging the Harbour tunnel, which would need to be closed for days or weeks to repair.

For all the people saying free truck wash, it also decapitates the truck and collapses the entrance for several weeks.

Thats a brilliant idea a bit of research tells me this huge sine only appears for over sized trucks that have got to a point where the driver must of blantently ignored 4 or 5 warnings up untill that point its like the final warning and it can also be used to stop traffic in general if needed and because its just projected onto the waterfall it can actually display anything any road sign or emergency message so it can display emergency stop for all traffic for example i think its a fantastic idea creating a road sighn that size that literally appears like a solid wall infront of you

Funnily enough, i had this exact idea while i was showering. To just project stuff onto water droplets since they are reflective. Glad people actually thought of this to make roads safer

In NY, they put large flashing stop signs on either side of a low train overpass and we still had a truck stuck under it every week. They eventually had shut down the main road in our town and the train line to lift the train overpass.
