Make pigment from flower petals!

This probably was my most ambitious project yet. I turned flower petals into pigment for painting.

I'm not much of an artist myself (though I'm trying, if anyone knows any good youtube tutorials that teach drawing and painting, please drop a link) but looking around the garden I couldn't resist the urge to capture the colors of the flowers.

If you embark on your own pigment making adventures, let me know how it went. My method definitely has room for improvement and maybe we can learn together.

Oh, I absolutely HAVE to try this! I'm an illustrator, and it would be great to try to make a picture entirely with home-made pigments!

Oh yeah- you can use beets- they make a beautiful reddish color, blackberries and blueberries for purple and blues, if you search for natural colors for yarn dying you will find a ton of flower and fruit recipes to make dyes and just add your fixatives (I'm a spinner!) 😁

You are amazing!Just a suggestion...do not add water to the gum arabic. Just use a glass pestle and gring the colour into the gum arabic. That way it stays still more vibrant.

Awesome! For green try stinging nettle. I drink ice tea from this nature gifts. Put them in a pan, fill up with cooked water, and just leave it for a night. This water turns out pretty green 💚🤗🎶🧚🏼‍♀️
