Here in 印尼/Indonesia (irregardless of Chinese language), Russia can also be called 俄國, and China 唐山. Some folks living under a rock will still call Russia 蘇聯, and that term we have for China we often use to say our grandparents came from there "公公婆婆唐山來"。Singapore can also be called 星洲, and Malaysia as 大馬 (though this isn't commonly said in Indonesia, but it exists). Overall, our terms lean more to the Cantonese ones used in the video (since we're mostly of southern Chinese heritage 粵客閩). So even the terms that were only used as Cantonese in this video we would also use in Mandarin, like 南韓 and 北韓.

There are more nuances at the city level, for example my city Jakarta is called 雅加達 by non-local Mandarin speakers, and also 椰加達 for non-local Cantonese speakers, but locally is also called 椰城 and 巴城. The former refers to the city's historical port of Sunda Kelapa (Sunda Coconut [Sunda is a local ethnic group]), and the latter refers to the former colonial name of the city; Batavia.

Unfortunately, the younger generation is receiving the China/Singapore/Taiwan standard of Chinese education, and don't have much exposure to how their grandparents spoke before the ban of Chinese teaching from the 1960s-2000. It was quite different since many teachers came from southern China like Sichuan, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian, Jiangnan, carried stronger regional accents, and taught the Nanjing dialect as a standard instead of the Beijing dialect. So I'm pessimistic that the regional terms we have, along with other diction, and our accent will quickly merge with the China standard.

When I went to the U.S. for exchange, my roommate was from Montenegro and I (as a Chinese native speaker) cannot recall the country when I heard the English name. When he said it means black mountain then I knew it was Hei Shan. Quite an interesting one. Similar to Japan it is in its original character/meaning which is the place of sunrise.

6:06 Georgia's name here is borrowed from Russian (Gruzia - gélŭjíyà). It would be a real mouthful for these guys to pronounce Sakartvelo like Georgians call it themselves.
