NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Unreleased MGM recording) Here we have a perfect example of when record exec's and producers had faith in a particular song that it was given three different arrangements at three separate recording sessions before the final version was chosen for release. Composed by Brill Building songwriters, Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman, the tune 'No One' was given to successful MGM Records vocalist, Connie Francis who first recorded the tune on October 16, 1959 followed by a second version which is presented here that was recorded in Hollywood at Radio Recorders on January 25, 1960. The third and final English version was recorded on December 27, 1960 and ultimately chosen for release as the flipside to 'Where The Boys Are' in January 1961. Utilizing several background singers and 20 musicians of which ten were string players, to these ears, it is version #2 that is the winner. Connie really feels the lyric and the band swings but unfortunately, there is substantial distortion with the lead vocal track that may have been a factor in its remaining in the can for three decades before seeing the light of day in a multi compact disc set. Version #1 eventually came out of hibernation in the 1980's as part of a rare and unreleased Connie Francis compilation.

Connie still doesn't get the credit she deserves. Excellent voice, multi-lingual and recorded in several genres. This woman could do anything!

One of Connie's best. Loved this song when I found out it was the other side ofWhere The BoysAre.

Hi yes thanks for the link, I did hear this. Fun right? This is how real singer's do it. This is my favorite version of the song. Connie hated this song because she did it so many times and she just didn't ever get it to where she was fully happy with it. It's one of the best songs from her. ❤☺ 👑 Connie Francis is Queen. ❤

Do you have some other material from her recording sessions, maybe with Lipstick On You Collar, Stupid Cupid or Robot Man?
