Paris Hilton and the Uncanny Valley of Authenticity

In today’s video I discuss Paris Hilton’s new Documentary titled This Is Paris. I discuss why her original plan for the documentary may not have achieved her stated goals, but a last minute decision about what subject matter to cover turned out to be the saving grace of the documentary. I introduce a concept I call “the uncanny valley of authenticity,” which is what happens when you can tell someone is trying soooo hard to seem authentic and real.

I havent seen her documentary, but it's on my list. I do think that, regardless of her intentions, her speaking up about the ab*sive practices of those "schools" is really important because it shines a light on a horrendous organization. I hope more survivors come forward, and that all those terrible places get shut down.
