My favorite part
“That night I put my youth in a casket

And buried it inside of me

That night I saw through all the magic

Now I’m a witness to the death of a hero”

"That night I put my youth in a casket and buried it inside of me"
First of all, it hit me so hard.
Second, I really wish I hadn't done that. I regret it. I hate it

i don't know why but this song reminded me of my father. My dad was a drug addict, a gambler and an alcoholic. My family, my mom and my childhood and teenhood was hell because of him. After he divorced with my mother, he re married and we went separate way. I still meet with my father but maybe once a month but then its just for a few hours. Although I am the eldest of 3 siblings, I was pretty spoilt. But when my dad left, I " put my youth in my casket ". I become more mature and strong.

I love my dad, to me he is my hero, but sometimes I felt that he was already gone from my life.
Death of a Hero...

This song reminds me of the moment you realize that someone who look up to is just a person with flaws like the moment I realized my father was an alcoholic. 😔

*"Now I'm a witness to the death of a hero"*

This is what I thought of when my dog was put to sleep.

"i saw through the magic" it's actually sad that one day we really do stop looking at things like we did as children, amazing as always though alec (i LOVE the speaking portion at 2:20)

Nice to hear a song with meaningful lyrics. Don't get that much these days. Super catchy song too. Interested who the hero was...

Who else thinks that Alec's journey over the last few months has been amazing? And who else thinks that Alec deserves much more recognition?

Lyrics ;)
I was in Pittsburgh when I saw Superman in the backroom
He was doing lines or something in the bathroom
I barely recognized him at all
I saw him doing things you shouldn't do with all that power
I wish someone would have thrown him in the shower
I barely recognized him at all
That night I put my youth in a casket
And buried it inside of me
That night I saw through all the magic
Now I'm a witness to the death of a hero
I burned all the pictures in the attic
And threw away the magazines
That night I saw through all the magic
And now I'm a witness to the death of a hero
I tried to look away but you can't look away from a trainwreck
The things you said to girls, well they were shameless
I barely recognized him at all
I tried to help but he said he was just too far from saving
And nothing I could say was gonna change him
I barely recognized him at all
That night I put my youth in a casket
And buried it inside of me
That night I saw through all the magic
Now I'm a witness to the death of a hero
I burned all the pictures in the attic
And threw away the magazines
That night I saw through all the magic
And now I'm a witness to the death of a hero
The death of a hero, he couldn't be saved
Now I'm cutting the grass and I'll cover his grave
I'll cover his grave
The death of a hero, I'm turning the page
Now I'm cutting the grass and I'll cover his grave
I'll cover his grave
That night I put my youth in a casket
And buried it inside of me
That night I saw through all the magic
Now I'm a witness to the death of a hero
I burned all the pictures in the attic
And threw away the magazines
That night I saw through all the magic
And now I'm a witness to the death of a hero

I don't know why but a lot of your songs make me cry. Actually not in a bad way. It's like omg someone knows how to express these feelings... The feelings that I have and can't explain... I love all your songs. They all have such a strong message. I wish you would see this, but honestly doubt you will. You're my inspiration. Alec, thank you, you may not think that you could change someone's life with music. Yet you have made mine so much better. I used to be so shy and scared thinking I was stupid for being the way I am, but you're songs helped. Keep up the awesome work. Thank you!

I think what this song meant was that//: Alec had seen something or a secret that the person he respects so much, do something bad that he looses respect for him. To this, it lead him hate or some other negative feelings // like frustration, whatnot // and to the point that he burnt this person he respects so much's pictures and everything related to this person. He kept all he believed while he was in his youth that this person had done in casket, as if he's saying that this is all a lie. And the death may not actually he a death, it's probably the respect or trust or something. And the lone that he says he doesn't realized, he probably refuse to do so, cuz he doesn't want to see/recognize the person he once respect so much
