Britney Spears fans celebrate news she will address court - BBC News

Fans have celebrated outside a California courthouse after news was announced that Britney Spears would speak in court about her conservatorship.

The singer's father, Jamie Spears, was granted control over her personal and business affairs in a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008, but she has now indicated she no longer wants him to have such control.

It is unclear if Spears will appear in person but the judge has set a hearing date for 23 June.

I wouldn't get too excited since her father would never be allowed to continue such an obvious grift without inside help from the legal system AKA bought off judge etc. A person able to mount multi-month world tours is clearly mentally capable of managing their own business affairs, and anyone that thinks the manager class in music, film, etc, isn't outright sleazy clearly has never spoken with people inside such industries.
