This video explains how to export Old School Runescape (OSRS) character models into blender. This is how you get OSRS blender models. Once in blender, you can create animations or positions for YouTube Thumbnails for your Runescape videos.

Be sure to check out my stuff:

Steps are below:
Step 1 – The first thing you need to do is search for the Model Exporter Plugin in Runelite. This is located in the plugin hub.
Step 2 – To export a model shift right + click it and then press export model.
Step 3 – Import the OBJ and delete the shadow.
Step 4 – Step 4 will involve rigging the character using an online program called Mixamo; this is really easy. Firstly, press upload character and then drag and drop your model in. Then position the chin, wrists, elbows, knees and groin. Make sure to switch the skeleton to no fingers
Step 5 – Import and pose

I've always wondered how to do this but never really cared to look into it. I'm glad I came across your video!

Great tutorial, just what i was looking for. Before exporting the model from blender I would recommend rightclick > shade smooth. Models in runecape are all shaded smooth not flat

Should be noted that Mixamo also comes with a ton of pre-made animations, particularly cycles which can be useful (walking, running, crawling etc.)

So I've watched more than one of your videos and learned a lot. Thank you so much btw!! I am curious about something though. Is there a different software you can animate in that won't change the look of the models so much? So far I've only been using blendr for basic stuff like making thumbnails but I really want everything to look a little more like OSRS. Thanks man.

Lmao such a beginner to blender I was even stuck on the simple part of moving and adjusting. After examining the vid I see now you need to select move to start the adjustments

I know this is me just being stupid but just incase anyone else stumbles across this and can't find out how to open the Mixamo menu.

When you press N it'll open up the "Item" Transform menu first. And on the right side of the menu you'll see "Item", "Tool", "View" and "Mixamo". Click Mixamo xd

da hell, i quit because i didn't feel like modeling all summer
and no one bothered to tell me you guys just export assets straight from the game?

i shared all my secrets with errybudy, now i have to hear the news from a stranger?

how many of us quit because we thought you kids were too talented to compete with?

kkcomics spent years of his life modeling and he missed out on career opporunities and love

and only 10 years later are industry secrets finally kicking back?
its actually our own fault for not asking I guess

Thanks, I probably won't use it. But I'm sure many people will and some will have life changing fortune because of it. These tutorials are springboards for really young folks to speedrun their outlier-level creativity. Even if it's for something silly like a videogame.

Many, many thanks!

I have a question! Absolutely wonderful tutorial by the way! Do you know if there is a way to get the female character model to where it doesn't export with a natural head tilt and not equal on both sides? I almost want to have the idea of splicing the model in half and copying left side to right- then adding the head manually back on but it seems like a lot of work! Any ideas since the post of this video?
