Andrew Weil, M.D., is a world-renowned leader and pioneer in the field of integrative medicine and is internationally recognized for his expertise in healthy aging and his philosophy on aging gracefully.

In this enlightening lecture, Dr. Weil discusses the important question, “Is it inevitable to get sick as we get old?” He shares observations of the healthy aging successes of centenarians, how our “genetic destiny” may be modifiable, and how inflammation contributes to disease. He offers practical ways to separate the aging process from age-related disease, to stay as healthy as we can as we age, including incorporating a nutritious diet, maintaining physical activity and the importance of social connection.

Combining a Harvard education and a lifetime of practicing natural and preventive medicine, he is the founder and director of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. He also holds the Lovell-Jones Endowed Chair in Integrative Medicine and is a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Professor of Public Health at the University of Arizona.

A New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Weil is the author of 15 books on health and wellbeing, including Healthy Aging: A Lifelong Guide to Your Physical and Spiritual Wellbeing; Mind Over Meds: Know When Drugs Are Necessary, When Alternatives Are Better, and When to Let Your Body Heal on Its Own; Fast Food, Good Food; True Food: Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure; Spontaneous Happiness and Eight Weeks to Optimum Health.

Dr. Weil is a courageous visionary who shepherded the field of integrative medicine to where it is today, an essential approach to wellbeing embedded in mainstream medicine and health. As Dr. Weil often says, “Integrative medicine is just good medicine.”

I was blessed to have grandmothers who were excellent examples of healthy life habits, lifelong learning, balanced sense of humor.

Big fan of Dr. Weil, bought a couple of his books and love listening to him. Fantastic to see he is his own real-life example of healthy, vibrant aging - follows his own advice and you can see and hear the results. I hope to age this way, too. Love how he brings wisdom and philosophical perspectives on aging, medicine, food, wellness etc., into his books, not just facts and information. Combines all of it responsibly and effectively.

1 month shy of 80 years old right here, yet his mental agility and physical vitality is superb. So inspirational for living a healthy lifestyle!

Wait at 42:25 he says any "non nutritive sweeteners have disastrous effects" - what about stevia? that's natural? aren't there other things like monk fruit that are low/no calorie AND add a little sweetness?

The "Fast Facts" are manipulative. The "Percentage" increase is related to people not reproducing that much anymore and that increases the "Percentage" of those who are already living...
