In Alabama, an inmate on death row is about to be the first person executed by a new, untested method — nitrogen gas.

It is controversial and potentially opens a new frontier on how states execute death row prisoners despite concerns by death penalty opponents.

Eric Sorensen explains why this method is being used and why critics are so opposed to it.

I’m more appalled that he got to live for the last 35 years…

Last I checked bullets were still pretty cheap

Nitrogen is actually very stress-free and guaranteed death.

1:13 The last I heard was that murder is also an unlawful kind of death. I can't feel sorry for people on death row.

This makes no sense at all, the idea that this is a cheaper method of killing someone is insane when they kept him fed and warm for 30 years.. Can someone explain?

Yep. You murder someone and people always try and save you. Ridiculous.

It’s sickening that people defend these people who without batting an eye took a life… the victims suffered and their families.
Now, complaining the MURDERER may suffer during execution !?!!

He shouldn’t have been alive this long. 35 years?! Absolutely ridiculous. Just bring back ol’ sparky 🪑

It's a shame the pastor who initiated the murder isn't around to answer for the crime
& which wouldn't have happened if he had not simply wanted for the insurance money!
The pastor was really the most culpable here.

Why would they kept this man 35 years and then execute. What is the sense in all this?

If you are absolutely 100% sure he or she did it I have no issue with the death penalty, not the bullet, the chair, the needle, a hammer, etc.

The 100% sure thing is usually the problem for me. The idea of putting to death someone who is innocent is completely horrifying to me, and it happens.

He committed premeditated murder in a death penalty state; no one can argue they don't have a right.

ok i’m not saying we should go out of our way to cause human suffering— but why are these people so concerned about his comfort over remembering he’s only being executed because he KILLED A WOMAN without any thought to her dignity, her comfort, her humanity? it was premeditated as well, he was hired to do it, this was not a case of snapping and having a terrible consequence. this was not a case of drugs or fraud. this was a case of MURDER.

but let’s feel SORRY for the murderer. yeesh

oh brother... the sanctimony is palpable.

But the effects of nitrogen are well known. Lots of people have experienced it by accident and survived. How is that untested?
Not speaking for or against the execution, just that the whole point is disingenuous and weakens any negative argument they might have.

Yes let's keep defending the actual criminals, as we see more and more, meanwhile the victims aren't even mentioned or worse, they are convicted- in cases of self-defense
