Burning coffee ground is supposed to be an effective natural bug repellent as well. Ive never used it but it couldnt hurt.

If you're into wood working... sawdust also works very well (especially in tandum with grounds)

I've been doing this for years.
Not as a fire starter or for any other practical reason.
I just add a couple of these to an established campfire because it smells so good.

The coffee holding it together and the paper both protecting it AND being a little fire starter is engineering that I absolutely love

As an Eagle Scout, I absolutely love your content 👌🏼!

FYI for anyone that wants to try this. Starbucks recycles their coffee grounds and gives them away for FREE. You just have to ask. Personally I use the grounds for my lemon trees but I’ll definitely be trying this out.

The cool thing about candle wax is that it is flammable, but doesn't easily catch fire by itself. It normally has flow through a fibrous material, such as the wick, to burn, which is why you normally only see the wick burning.
The coffee grounds distributed homogeneously in the wax acts similar to the candle wick, but since it is spread throughout the entire brick, it allows the entire surface to burn instead of the more controlled flame in the candle wick.

Looks like a brownie, I know it would taste terrible, but I want to eat it.

Outstanding! I make little firestarters with wax, sawdust, and dryer lint with cardboard egg cartons, but this'll make a great addition to the mix.

I make fire starters with cotton makeup remover pads and wax. You get lovely stackable disks you can toss in any container. To light, crack in half and rip the end apart to expose the fibers a bit.

I had a similar idea. I had cotton pads lying around and old candles. I melted the candles annd soaked the cotton pads in the melted candle. They are waterproof that way. Now if you need them, just break them in half and you have tiny cotton tips you can light with a normal lighter. Also works with fire steel, altough a bit trickier.

I thought he was going to make a coffee scented candle for the man cave. But this is a better use.

I've noticed most of the people in this comment section are in two camps

1. People who are outdoor experts and giving their own personal experiences and opinions as to why the featured method is good or bad

2. People like me who will never go out in nature a day in their lives but enjoys watching these cause at least we can dream that if an emergency does happen will remember these words of wisdom and be able to perform these tasks and be the hero. When in reality we'll be freakin out we got no more cell service to watch said videos.

I must of watched this video 6 times until I realized how fucking clever this is.

Not only for emergencies, or camping, but also to start a fire for the grill.
